This piece (along with other pieces in the series)  focuses on the idea that in order to heal the body there are times that you need to destroy it. Through the suturing of the pieces of skin together, the artwork imposes the thought of a medical setting - in particular when a surgeon closes the wound after surgery. The piece is made into a blanket to show the comfort of knowing that you will get better and be healed - even though it does not look very comforting. But really, surgery is never a pleasant experience even though it gives hope to be healthy in the longer term.
